Overview
Released at the same time as the 17" Aluminum PowerBook, this laptop signaled the transition from the "One Size Fits All" mentality of the 15" Titanium PowerBook to the three choices the Aluminum lineup offered. The 12" PowerBook was the smallest and lightest laptop Apple ever produced. Packing most of the power of the larger 17" and 15" PowerBooks into its slim 12" diagonal case the PowerBook G4 was also Apple's cheapest PowerBook.

Once the Rev. E was released, the same machine was $1499. One could also downgrade via BTO to a Combo Drive to lower the cost. There is no difference between the Rev. E 12" PowerBook and the Rev. D 12" PowerBook with SuperDrive.
