Although not technically a PowerBook, the Macintosh Portable is notable for being the first portable Macintosh. Specification-wise it was very similar to the original Macintosh 128K, but with an internal SCSI bus which allowed for a build-to-order 40 MB hard drive option. This computer also pioneered the usage of flat-panel displays, with its 640x400 black-and-white passive-matrix display. The Macintosh Portable weighed approximately ten pounds due to its lead-acid batteries. While heavy, the lead-acid batteries did allow for some impressive battery life statistics of up to 10 hours.
