Apple announced the heavily anticipated iPhone on January 9, 2007 at Macworld San Francisco and released it in the US on June 29, 2007 at 6 PM. The device, touted by Steve Jobs as revolutionary, acts as an iPod and mobile phone and features internet capabilities. It takes advantage of over 200 patents. AT&T is the exclusive partner in the US.
Steve Jobs announced at WWDC 2007 that developers would be able to write Web 2.0 applications for the iPhone that can integrate with iPhone services. A full SDK was announced in an open letter from Steve Jobs in October 2007 and released in beta form in March 2008. A firmware update for the iPhone will be released in July 2008, adding support for applications developed using the SDK.
As of WWDC 2008, 6 million iPhones had been sold.

iPhone 3GS
The iPhone 3GS was announced on June 8, 2009, at WWDC 2009. Its features include improved speed, a new camera with video support, voice control, a digital compass, new accessibility options, data encryption, improved battery life and more storage space.
iPhone 3G
The iPhone 3G was announced on June 9, 2008, at WWDC 2008 and will be available on July 11 in 22 countries. Apart from 3G support, it includes GPS, a thinner enclosure, improved battery life and a lower price.
Original iPhone
The original iPhone was released on June 29, 2007.
