The iMac G4 was announced in January 2002 and was the first complete redesign since the original iMac. Mounted on a chromed stainless steel neck, the screen could be adjusted easily. The iMac G4s ice-white base was a mere 10.6 inches in diameter and contained the computer. At the introduction of the iMac G4, Steve Jobs famously said, "The CRT is officially dead."
