Yonah is the code-name for Intel's 65nm processor based on the Pentium M. Available in both single (Core Solo) and dual-core (Core Duo) versions, the Yonah processor was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January 2006. The dual-core version of Yonah was made available immediately, while the single core version was not available until later in the quarter.

Yonah became the first Intel processor to be used by Apple only days after its unveiling, with the introduction of the Intel based iMac and MacBook Pro at Macworld San Francisco 2006. It was also later used in the Mac mini (Core Solo/Core Duo) and MacBook (Core Duo).

Futures

Merom has started shipping and is expected to replace Yonah over time. Unlike Yonah, Merom implements Intel's Core Microarchitecture specification. Merom is backwards compatible with Yonah, requiring at most a BIOS update.
