VLC Media Player
From Mac Guides
VLC - Video Lan Client, is a free media player suitable for use on many different platforms. It is a very useful program to have on your Macintosh as it will play many different formats that Quicktime player cannot handle, such as:
- DivX
- XviD
- 3ivX
- Some support for WMV
- MPEG2 Transport Streams (.ts)
VLC can also be used for DVD playback and has been reported by many to include multi-region support. This can be especially useful since Apple's own DVD player is limited to a user set region which can only be changed a few times.
