Should any mention be given to the good ol' "Network" icon in the finder, which generally works without configuration at all? This guide is a bit daunting for someone who just wants to copy files on their lan at home. --Mainstreetmark 10:43, 7 December 2005 (EST)

I believe the bit about Windows server settings is out of date. A bug in Leopard prevented macs connected to Windows servers to write to the server. This thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=467622) on macrumors discusses it. The bug was fixed with 10.5.3.
