Personal Observation: late 2007

I ran my Aluminium iMac 20" 2.4GHz machine on 3GB of RAM for a week and a half before I received my 'other' 2GB of RAM. I joked with the salesperson that it would make a difference in performance, but when I installed it, the machine did run noticeably faster!

You could have knocked me over with a feather, but there it was in front of me. It started up faster, the apps opened faster, ran faster, Quit faster. It was a thing of beauty, and I'll never dismiss such seemingly minor technical recommendations as 'unnecessary' ever again.

The speed improvement of matched RAM is real & quite noticeable in everyday use. Highly recommended!
