Wouldn't it be simpler to put the Mac with the DVD drive into Firewire Target Disk Mode, and connect it to the DVD-less Mac? In Target Disk Mode, all disks, including optical ones, are mounted to the other Mac. Boot it over Firewire, which you were going to do anyway using the iPod, but off the Target Disk Mode Mac instead.


Yes, I imagine you are completely correct, though I've never tried it myself, is that you were wrong why you deleted your comment? EDIT Of Course if they only have a desktop Mac then that might more difficult, but still... Eraserhead 05:59, 27 August 2007 (EDT)
