Delete?

This article is now effectively useless with the introduction of Buying a MacBook versus MacBook Pro, except perhaps when buying second hand. Should we delete it, keep it as is or modify it to take a more historical standpoint? --HexMonkey 02:52, 18 May 2006 (EDT)

I say we should just keep this page. There's no reason in deleting it. Some people will want to see what the old comparison was between the two notebook lines.
I'm removing it from the new categorisation, delete if you wish. Eraserhead 09:02, 10 June 2008 (EDT)

Verification

Not doubting what you're saying, but I think when we make claims like the following, we should at least back it up with evidence or instead put something like 'According to some users...' and link to the forum where the claims are being made.

  • iBooks have a better Airport signal than PowerBooks, though PowerBooks have improved from previous versions.
  • That might be true, but some links to a discussion or tech note on the subject would be useful. I still think it should be backed up.

iBook hack

Should we include information on this hack, or at least a link to it? Seems like good information, as long as the normal and proper disclaimers are included.--Beverson 09:02, 1 November 2005 (EST)

Added a Links section. We can include external links to Airport reception there too. --Mechcozmo 01:53, 16 November 2005 (EST)

Bundled Software

How is one meant to specify what software they want bundled with the 15" or 17" powerbook? The comparison chart on Apple's site says: "iWork '05, Logic Express, Motion 2 or Final Cut Express HD pre-installed", yet the store doesn't seem to have the option to select one.

case materials/durability

I think the line beginning:

"iBooks have been said to be more durable than PowerBooks..."

Should be changed to read:

"iBooks case materials are said to be more durable than those of PowerBooks"

There has never been any demonstration or evidence on how the construction differences of the two lines of laptops manifest themselves in specific ways relative to shock absorption. One might assume, but the inherent differences in the materials are only one of many variables that determine the physical characteristics of a laptop. The new version of the sentence, as I have proposed, is meant to better emphasize the anecdotal nature of the claim, and highlight that the difference os one of case materials, not HDD, screen, etc. (there can be confusion about this on the boards).
