The Apple Mighty Mouse was released on August 2, 2005 and is the first multi-button mouse from Apple, with two buttons on the top, a scrolling wheel which acts as a button, and a button on the side. It is advertised to "Click, Squeeze, Roll, and Scroll". It is also one of the few mouses that has "invisible" buttons on the top. They are touch sensitive, meaning the mouse can sense which button you are trying to press, even though the whole mouse moves. It also contains a tiny internal speaker, which makes a sound when you scroll or click.

A Bluetooth version of the Mighty Mouse was released on July 25, 2006, and also featured improved laser tracking. It sells for $69 USD compared to $49 for the wired version.

The Mighty Mouse has been included with all iMacs since the iMac G5 iSight, and all Dual and Quad core PowerMacs.

Compatibility

The Mighty Mouse is compatible with Mac OS X and Windows. For the ability to edit button settings, Mac OS X 10.4.2 is required, although the Bluetooth Mighty Mouse requires Mac OS X 10.4.6 for full customization support. With earlier versions of Mac OS X, there is reduced customizability. In Windows, the mouse takes on the default settings for Windows mice, meaning two buttons are right and left click, the center button is for faster scrolling, and the side buttons go "back" on a web browser and in Windows Explorer.

Gaming

This mouse is not ideal for gaming because you cannot press two buttons at once, which is required in some games. It also requires you to lift your hand off the left part of the mouse to right click, which is difficult in fast paced games.
