The GeForce 9400M is an Nvidia chipset which is used in the current versions of the MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac and Mac Mini.

It is a chipset with an integrated GPU, and controls the Memory and I/O buses as well as the graphics on systems that utilise it. The graphics is better performance wise than the Intel GMA x3100 used in the previous MacBook and MacBook Air. MacBook Pro users can switch between the dedicated 9600m GPU and the integrated 9400m to save battery life.

The 9400m supports DisplayPort and can drive a 30 inch LCD at native resolution (2560x1600) Mac OS X uses the built in hardware video decoder to play videos.

Half the performance of the GeForce 8600m used in the previous MacBook Pro

3-4 times the performance of the Intel GMA x3100 used in the previous MacBook and MacBook Air
