From Mac Guides
This is a reference for those using the latest in virtualization. At the time of this writing (September 2008), this guide is geared towards VMware Fusion 2.0 only. VMware 2.0 was released on September 18, 2008, and adds in support for Microsoft DirectX9, which improves 3D performance greatly, and hence enabling a much higher benchmark for playing games in virtualization. Since this articles release, a section for Parallels 3.0 has been added.
Here is a list of games that has been tested and shown to be playable on Fusion 2.0 (running Windows XP):
F.E.A.R. - (tested on a MacBook Pro 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB of RAM): Playable at minimum graphic performance settings at 1024x768. Hovers at about 30 frames per second, with some stuttering when entering new large areas, or when hitting loading
