Eric Schmidt

Dr. Eric Schmidt (1955 - ) is chairman and CEO of Google, and also holds positions on Google's board of directors and Princeton University's board of trustees. He was elected to Apple's board of directors on August 29, 2006, becoming the eighth member [1].

Prior to joining Google, Schmidt held several other notable positions. He joined Sun Microsystems in 1983, where he became chief technology officer and led the development of Java. After this, he was chairman and CEO of Novell from 1997 to 2001. Schmidt has also held positions at the Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Bell Laboratories and Zilog.
