Apple AUI
From Mac Guides
Apple AUI, a.k.a. AAUI, is Apple's implementation of the Attachment Unit Interface (AUI) port used for Ethernet. This 14-pin port is found on the Macintosh Quadra, Centris and some early PowerMac computers and their clones, as well as some Ethernet adaptor cards. In order to use twisted pair cables a transceiver is required that connects to the AAUI port and has the usual RJ-45 port for connection to a network, router or broadband modem.
Apple AUI is identical to standard AUI with the exception that it uses 5 volts of power rather than the standard 12 volts.
AAUI was phased out with the adoption of the more standard ethernet style (RJ-45) jacks that we see today.
