Adium, also known as Adium X, is a popular open source instant messaging client for Mac OS X.



Adium includes a number of features, including:

  • Tabbed chats
  • File transfers
  • Graphical smileys
  • Themes/skins
  • Plug in architecture
  • Multiple protocol support

Lacking is support for audio or video chats, which is one reason some people prefer Apple Computer's iChat.
